Guillermo Morales
Guillermo is a transplant from El Paso, Texas by way of San Jose, California. He believes worker rights are human rights and has focused his work on worker advocacy. Guillermo is a Labor Educator with the University of Iowa Labor Center. He began his role with the Labor Center in September 2019 conducting research related to worker rights and developing and delivering education and training programs for Iowa workers.
Prior to joining the Labor Center, Guillermo served most recently as Executive Manager of the California School Employees Association (CSEA), a union representing over 250,000 classified public school employees. In this capacity, his responsibilities included governance and compliance, membership recruitment and retention, state and federal policy advocacy, member education, and negotiations with the staff union. While Executive Manager, Guillermo was tapped to concurrently serve as Interim Director of Communications to enhance the Association’s communication and member engagement efforts. He also served as a Labor Relations Representative for CSEA representing classified employees in negotiations of collective bargaining agreements, as well as in grievance proceedings and disciplinary hearings. He also conducted a variety of union related trainings and supported organizing efforts. Before this, Guillermo was a Regulatory Administrator for a Workforce Development Board in El Paso, Texas charged with ensuring efforts to support unemployed and underemployed workers complied with state regulations. Guillermo holds a JD from Texas Tech University School of Law.
