The application period for the 2021 Cmiel and Weston internship funding is now open. The deadline to submit application materials is 5:00 pm (CST), March 26th.
The UICHR provides funding each year in support of students who have secured human rights internships at home and abroad.
Current UI undergraduate, graduate, and professional students who are currently and will remain enrolled in a degree program at the UI the semester following their internship are eligible to apply.
UICHR will evaluate the ability to fund in-person internships based on University of Iowa and UI College of Law Covid-19 travel restrictions and guidelines at the time of the application deadline. Internship modality (and available options) should be included in the application materials.
In honor of Burns H. Weston (UICHR founder), the UICHR provides financial support for a UI law student who has secured a human rights-related summer internship.
In honor of Kenneth J. Cmiel (former UICHR Director), the UICHR provides financial support for graduate and undergraduate students who wish to pursue an experiential learning opportunity that enhances their learning about human rights anywhere in the world during the summer.
