Andrea Cohen is the Executive Director of the Iowa United Nations Association whose mission is to promote, educate about, and advocate for the entire United Nations system. Prior to that she was a Ph.D. student in Social Studies Education with a focus on Global and Human Rights Education. She has a Bachelors in Anthropology from Barnard College, Columbia University and a Masters in Anthropology and Education, from Teacher’s College, Columbia University. She also has a Master of Science in Teaching (Social Studies and Civics) from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. Ms. Cohen taught for 7 years in both a Dutch school (Civics) and an International School (Humanities and Civics) in the MYP Program of the International Baccalaureate. Originally Dutch, Ms. Cohen spent 21 years in The Netherlands before moving to Iowa City with her family in 2012. She is also an Iowa City Human Rights Commissioner.
