Emmalyn Brown is a 4th year undergraduate student studying English/Creative Writing, French, and Social Justice. She is also pursuing a human rights certificate. She plans to attend a J.D. program post graduation to pursue a career as civil rights attorney with an emphasis on gender and sexuality discrimination issues. She is the Director of Governmental Relations for The University of Iowa Student Government and serves as a liaison to the Center for Human Rights. She is also a former NOW Governmental Relations intern and U.S. Senate Legislative Intern.
Her primary advocacy interests include educational access, equal housing, organ donation education, healthcare access including mental healthcare, rights and legal education for secondary students including on Title IX, sexual violence prevention in employment and educational institutions and access to legal systems. Her non-advocacy interests include spending time with her cat (and her soon-to-be goldendoodle dog), dancing, writing, and hiking.
